Aardvark Automotive is accepting nominations for a car giveaway in Amarillo, TX

Ahead of the holiday season, Aardvark Automotive in Amarillo will once again donate a vehicle to a deserving Amarillo resident, through the Wheels to Prosper initiative.

Aardvark Automotive, a full-service auto repair company based in Amarillo since 1980, announces that it will once again enter the Wheels to Prosper car contest this fall.

From October 10 to November 18, the public is invited to nominate a deserving person who needs a safe and reliable vehicle. A panel of five judges will review all entries. The winner will be announced on December 10, 2022 at 11 a.m.

According to Brandon Anderson, owner of Aardvark Automotive, “The nominations we receive every year inspire us. There are so many people who work so hard to achieve their life goals, whether it is to give their children a chance to succeed or to train to create a better life. Having a reliable and safe vehicle can make it easier to navigate towards achieving these goals. We are proud and honored to be part of this program. We can’t wait to announce our next winner, just in time for the holidays.

Previous recipients have included single parents, parents of children with special needs, grandparents raising their grandchildren, college students and families in need of a safe vehicle. The nomination form is available on the Aardvark Automotive website.

This is the second time this year that Aardvark Automotive will donate a used vehicle in good working order to a deserving individual in the Amarillo community. In March 2022, Aardvark Automotive received a donated vehicle and replaced spark plugs, window regulators and performed an oil and lubrication service with parts donated by O’Reilly’s Auto Parts. Amarillo Windshields donated a new windshield for the vehicle. Hub City Body Shop provided a new paint job for free. The vehicle was donated to a local mother of two.

“The Wheels to Prosper program is a highlight for our entire team every year,” he said. “We love everything about participating in this program. It highlights the kindness and generosity of the people of Amarillo. It really is a collective effort. A member of the public donated the vehicle. Then, business owners from across the community come together to donate time, supplies, and talents to help one of our neighbors who needs a little help. It says a lot about the wonderful people we call our friends and neighbors.

Aardvark Automotive was one of the first auto repair shops in the country to join the Wheels to Prosper initiative when it launched in 2011. They have entered the vehicle competition every year. “Even at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we made sure to donate a car. Our program was postponed, but we never canceled it,” Anderson said.

Locally owned and operated, Aardvark Automotive has been providing comprehensive automotive repairs for all makes and models of cars, trucks and SUVs for over 40 years.
