SANTA MONICA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Autonomy, the electric vehicle subscription company which offers the cheapest, fastest and easiest way to get a Tesla Model 3, and soon other models and brands, is now available to residents of Bakersfield and surrounding communities.
“Gas prices continue to soar and set new records every day in California and the rest of the country,” said Scott Painter, founder and CEO of Autonomy. “Consumers now have the choice to ditch their gas-powered cars and go electric and save 60% or more on fuel costs. Electric vehicles were out of reach for many consumers, but with a subscription , this is no longer the case.
A payment dial allows customers to customize their Model 3. Subscriptions range from $490 per month with an initial start-up fee of $4,900 to $1,000 per month with an initial start-up fee of $1,000. A refundable $500 security deposit and taxes are required upon subscription activation. Subscribers can start reserving their car through the Autonomy app with a $100 refundable deposit.
Autonomy’s monthly payment covers traditional costs of ownership, including annual registration and license fees, routine maintenance, roadside assistance and normal tire wear, which are usually all additional expenses with a traditional lease or loan.
Gas prices continue to rise, but the cost of electricity remains incredibly low for consumers, by comparison. The average price of a gallon of gasoline in Bakersfield is just over $6.25, costing the average consumer $75 to fill their gas tank. Using a Tesla Supercharger, consumers pay about 0.25 cents per kWh, totaling less than $25 for a full charge. Access to recharging is also simple. Bakersfield currently has 108 charging stations – including two Superchargers along Interstate 5 in Bakersfield – with a new Tesla Supercharger slated to open in downtown Bakersfield in the fall of 2022.

“Autonomy is above all easy and affordable access to mobility,” said Georg Bauer, co-founder and president of Autonomy. “Launching in all regions of California is important to us, especially as we unlock access to electric vehicles, which was once incredibly out of reach for many consumers. Getting an electric vehicle doesn’t have to be expensive, it doesn’t require a perfect credit score, and it doesn’t have to be forever. With Autonomy, each person can customize the payment and duration of their subscription, on their own terms, from month to month. »
In addition to the cost advantage, Autonomy drivers have the option of monthly subscription after a minimum hold period of three months and with 28 days notice. The platform is a viable market option for those unwilling or unable to afford the long-term commitment of buying or leasing an electric car.
Autonomy’s subscription model offers a radical new solution to the growing demand for electric cars. An added benefit is the company’s Model 3 stock that can be delivered or picked up in weeks (while supplies last), compared to waiting six to nine months for a lease or loan.
