Frontier Tire in Worland celebrates 30 years of activity

WORLAND – Frontier Tire in Worland celebrated its 30th anniversary earlier this month.

Frontier Tire was started in December 1991 by Jeff Dorr, his then wife Dale Hovander. They bought the Petty Tire store at 417 N 10th Street to start their auto repair business.

Dorr said: “It was difficult to name the store. I had many different names in mind and settled down with Frontier. I felt the name suited Worland and the region.

Dorr eventually bought out Hovander in 2001.

Owning his own business was a childhood dream come true for Dorr. He said he started right out of high school working occasionally for Petty Tire Shop as a tire technician and later as an alignment technician.

“I’ve always had a passion for cars and for meeting people’s automotive needs. After launching Frontier Tire, I realized that over time it was necessary to have a one-stop shop to meet the automotive needs of customers. Frontier Tire started out simply as a tire service.

Frontier Tire expanded its original building to its current building in 2013 and expanded the business by moving some of the shop work to the old Big West Autoplex location north of the original shop.

Frontier Tire offers small to large size tires, brake service, alignment, oil changes, flushes (transmission, power steering, brakes and coolant), tire service trucks for farm and highway, diagnostics and repairs on cars, light trucks and trucks.

The North Shop is the office showroom for sales and service, lubricant and oil, new and used tire sales, and tire repair.

The south workshop or the original workshop is used for alignment and repair of automobiles and all trucks.

“As Frontier Tire grew, we were able to purchase better tools and equipment, remodel buildings to better serve our customers,” said Dorr.

When it started Frontier Tire had two employees and they now have 10 to 12.

Dorr said there are currently no future plans for the company and that they plan to “Continue to serve people.”

The company’s official anniversary was December 16.

Dorr said her secret to staying open for so long is loyalty, honesty and consistency.
