Grand Theft Auto 5 Sales Finally Slow 9 Years After Launch

It looks like fans are ready for GTA 6 now.

After dominating gaming charts for nine years, sales of Grand Theft Auto 5 may finally be slowing down. At least that’s according to the latest earnings report from Rockstar parent company Take-Two, which shows the first-ever drop in sales since GTA 5 launched in 2013.

As revealed in the report, GTA 5 sold one million copies between July and September this year. While that’s impressive for any other title, it’s not much for a game that has so far moved over 170 million units, suggesting fans are more than ready for it. the next episode.

As reported by GamesRadar, these numbers make for GTA 5’s worst quarter ever. Although that’s not too surprising, since there can’t be many people who don’t have at least one copy of the game lying around.

This unfortunate milestone could also suggest that Rockstar’s attempts to extend GTA 5’s lifespan much longer than expected may not pay off as it has before. GTA 5 was only recently re-released on current-gen consoles, making the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S the third generation it has appeared on. GTA 5 Expanded and Enhanced Edition only launched in March, but it seems like you can only keep releasing a game for so long until the player base wants something new.

As we’ve learned from some of the most explosive news of the year, fans might not have to wait much longer before they finally see something official from GTA 6. A Huge Rockstar Hack has resulted in the first gameplay footage of GTA 6 being shared online, confirming details like the dual protagonists, one of whom is a Latina woman. This Bonnie and Clyde-inspired duo appears to be called Jason and Lucia, though we don’t know much more about them. Considering everything we saw was never meant to be shown to the public, it looked pretty promising, so an actual reveal might not be too far off.
