Information sessions will highlight two-year high school programs at three campuses

Sophomore high school students interested in a career in health care can learn more about the Morris County Vocation School District’s Allied Health Program, where Share Time students take health classes and complete a clinical internship. two years at the Atlantic Health System’s Chilton Medical Center.

Interested Grade 10 students and their families can learn about the program at a information session on February 9 at 6:30 p.m. Pequannock High School. Register in advance.

MCVSD is showcasing all of its timeshare career and technical education programs over the next few weeks with open houses and information sessions.

Timeshare programs offer specialized half-day vocational and technical training as part of a student’s junior and senior high school curriculum. The programs prepare students for career-related employment and post-secondary placement. Students apply in their second year to participate in a program for half days during their junior and senior years. Programs are spread across three campuses, giving students access to optimal equipment and expert instructors in their field of study. Students can earn college credit and participate in an internship as part of the curriculum.

the Paramedic program is a partnership between Morris County Vocational School District Pequannock High School and Atlantic Health System Chilton Medical Center. During the program, timeshare students complete college-credit health care courses at Pequannock High School and also participate in a clinical internship at Chilton Hospital in many departments, such as Emergency department, radiology, intensive care, wound care center, outpatient, nutrition/dietetics, orthopedics among other areas.

Students will earn 20 secondary school credits in Career and Technical Education per school year and will be able to earn up to 15 credits from Rutgers School of Health Professions throughout the program.

Allied Health students are required by Chilton Medical Center to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 to work in the hospital.

Grade 10 students can apply through an online application at High School – Career and Technical Timeshare Programs, Timeshare Information. The application deadline is March 31.

  • An open day is scheduled for February 23 to programs in partnership with the County College of Morris: Criminal Justice, Culinary Arts and Hospitality, Cybersecurity and Information Protection, and Advanced Engineering, Design and Manufacturing.
  • An open day is scheduled for March 3 to programs at the Denville MCVSD Campus: Auto body and collision repair, auto service technology, building and grounds maintenance, carpentry, cosmetology, electrical trades, food service, exercise science, plumbing and piping, welding technologies.
  • Students interested in the position sought Morris County Vocational School District Four-Year Career Academies apply as 8th graders each fall. The programs are: Animal Science, Biotechnology, Business Administration – Early College, Computer and Information Science, Culinary Arts, Design, Education and Learning, Environmental Science, Finance and International Business, Management Global Supply Chain, Government and Leadership, Health Sciences, Law and Public Safety, Mathematics, Science and Engineering, Multimedia, Performing Arts and Sports Medicine
  • Adults who would like to participate in one of the varied programs of the MCVSD vocational training programs can attend an open house on March 10. In the meantime, check out the catalog with details on courses, requirements, and financial aid. Applications are currently open for the LPN program.
