State police say someone stole several hundred gallons of fuel from a car park and junkyard.

ECKVILLE, Pa. — In Schuylkill County, a massive robbery hits a business hard.

State police say someone stole several hundred gallons of fuel from a car park and junkyard.

The company is still seeking answers after 600 gallons of diesel fuel were allegedly stolen from the property.

JW Zaprazny Inc. is an automobile sales, repair and scrap business located in the Township of East Brunswick.

Soldiers say fuel was taken from several pieces of equipment at a property in Zaprazny along Summer Valley Road sometime before April 12.

Residents of nearby New Ringgold were surprised to hear the news.

Randy Ney of Summit Station wondered how anyone could fly so much.

“I think it’s a huge amount of diesel and I don’t know how they would have gotten it out of here other than in big barrels,” Ney said.

Pat Clee of West Penn Township says she feels for the company.

“I think it’s a tragedy for them. It’s a big, big loss and I hope they have insurance where it will be recovered,” he said.

“It’s going to hurt him a lot, especially with the cost,” Ney added.

Some gas stations in Schuylkill County sell diesel for around $6 a gallon.

Ney says the possibility of a bigger payout may have prompted the thieves to steal.

“I wouldn’t really want to leave my vehicle somewhere when I have fuel like that where someone would try to steal it,” she said.

State police said they were working with surveillance footage captured during the incident.

Residents hope this will provide answers.

“Hopefully someone will recognize who it is and report it,” Clee commented.
