Man arrested for manslaughter, auto theft extradited to Mobile


MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) – A man charged with breaking into a car dealership and fatal accident who was arrested in Mississippi has been extradited to Mobile Friday.

Wyatt Newburn, 26, is charged by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office with breaking and entering D. Wallace Auto Sales and stealing six vehicles from the lot. The sheriff’s office said more arrests are pending in this case.

Newburn was also charged with killing a woman in a Nov. 5 car accident on I-10. The car Newburn was allegedly driving hit the back of a car Rachel Pickard was a passenger in, killing her. The driver, Vong Chau, was not killed.

Newburn has a long criminal history in Mobile County. In 2017, Newburn was arrested for shooting people on Spring Hill Avenue with a pellet gun. A woman was injured after she was shot while riding a bicycle and a man had a tooth knocked out.

In 2016, Newburn was arrested after being found in possession of brass knuckles and a slingshot. He has not served any prison time for this instance.
