Marvel’s New Ghost Rider Series Drastically Changes Johnny Blaze

Ghost Rider #1 introduces a radically different status quo for Johnny Blaze and promises a “back to basics” portrayal of the spirit of vengeance.

An official preview of the first issue of the Marvel Comics short story ghost rider The series reveals a huge change in the status quo for Johnny Blaze.

ghost rider Issue #1 is slated to hit comic book stores next Wednesday, February 23, from writer Benjamin Percy, artist Cory Smith, colorist Bryan Valenza, and letterer Travis Lanham. House of Ideas promises Johnny Blaze’s new solo series will take a “back to basics” approach in its portrayal of the Spirit of Vengeance.

Johnny Blaze’s life has often been tragic, with the former professional stuntman and recent King of Hell having lost his parents, wife and children of his own. At Percy and Smith’s ghost rider #1, however, Johnny has “the perfect life: a wife and two kids, a job at an auto repair shop, and a small-town community that supports him.” However, Johnny also sports a large scar on his head, with something creepy and dangerous lurking beneath the surface. Notably, Percy himself recently told CBR that in this new series, “Johnny Blaze no longer has control of the Spirit of Vengeance, and when possessed, he has no memory of what happened. ‘has passed’, making things happen again.
