Disruption of services on the Western line caused problems for thousands of commuters during the morning rush hour

INDIAN RAILWAYS UPDATE: Mumbai’s local rail services during the morning rush hour on the Western line were delayed on Monday, due to technical issues between Dahisar and Borivli suburban stations. However, services were restored around 7:30 a.m. The interruption of services caused problems for thousands of commuters during the morning rush hour. As some local trains stopped en route due to the hitch, a number of passengers got off the coaches and started walking along the tracks to reach their destinations.

“Due to an overhead electric wire failure between Dahisar and Borivali at 5:50 a.m., all UP trains are being diverted to the local UP line. UP local rapids delayed for 15 min. Restoration work is ongoing and will be completed soon. The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted,” Western Railway tweeted advising passengers of the same.

After an hour, WR managed to resolve the issue and tweeted, “A technical issue in the overhead cable between Dahisar and Borivali was resolved at 7:23.”
In a tweet, DRM – Mumbai Central, WR said local trains were running 10-15 minutes late due to a technical issue. “Due to an OHE outage between DAHISAR -BORIVALI station, all local trains are 10-15 minutes late,” he tweeted.

Central Railway and Western Railway operate nearly 3,000 commuter rail services daily, considered the lifeline of Mumbai, carrying about 75 lakh commuters daily.
