BENSON – Mr. Nathan B. Blackmon, 85, of South Wall Street, died Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Roselawn Cemetery in Benson. The officer will be the Reverend Glenn McCullen.

Mr. Blackmon was born on August 24, 1936, in Johnston County, to the late Oscar Shelton and Mary Johnson Blackmon. He owned and operated Blackmon’s Auto Sales for 67 years. Mr. Blackmon also owned and operated Blackmon’s Gas and Grocery for 57 years. He owned and operated Fayetteville Auto Auction for 50 years. Mr. Blackmon was a former City Commissioner of Benson.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Glenda Faye Hall Blackmon; daughters, Cheryl Blackmon Tart and Umica Blackmon Denning and her husband Dudley; grandchildren, Brandy Tart Strickland and her husband Kelly, Hannah Denning Miriello and her husband Joey, and Molly Tart Sloan and her husband Justin; great-grandchildren, Kenleigh, Ella, Jon Kelly, Evan, Maggie Judd and Ava James; sister, Rachel Johnson; brothers, Leon Blackmon and his wife Susan, and Kenneth Ray Blackmon and his wife Pat; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home.
