Obituary of Mark “Markie” Alan Gates

Mark “Markie” Alan Gates, 61, of Erie died Monday, June 6, 2022 at St. Vincent’s Hospital.

He was born in Erie on November 17, 1960, the son of Johann Cherry Fucci and the late Lloyd Gates.

Mark was an auto body technician who worked at various auto body shops in Erie.

He loved motocross, fishing, restoring old cars and drawing. He also liked to play bluegrass music on his guitar while sitting around a fire. Mark was a professional ball breaker who will be missed by all.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his stepfather, Ralph Fucci; grandmother, Theola Glosser; a sister-in-law, Deborah Gates and an uncle, Robert Cherry.

He is survived by his mother, Johann Fucci; one daughter, Makenzie Storm Gates; his beloved granddaughter, Kynlei Rayne Pytlarz; one sister, Deborah Schwab; two brothers, Steve Gates and Dean Gates and his wife Ann; special companion, Diane Himelein; three half-brothers, Dan Gates (Lori), Mike Gates (Doreen) and Tom Gates; nieces and nephews, Jerry (Denise) Schwab, Tracy Schwab (fiancé Dion Clemente), Lacy Costlow (John), Larae Jimenez; great-nieces and nephews, Gage and Leannah Schwab and Brandon Madura, Brittany Ballew, Kollin Schwab, Kalynne Matter (Makensey) and Cayden Schwab; an uncle, Gary Glosser; an aunt, Martha Lowes and a very special friend, Vicky Brackenbury. He will also be missed by his dog Lilly and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th Street, Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until service time at 7:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the family in the care of the funeral home.
