Fitzgerald Racing Services is looking for a new Automotive Mechanic to join the Melbourne based operation.
Established by Peter Fitzgerald, a prominent figure in Australian circuit racing for over 40 years, Fitzgerald Auto Services is a logbook accredited service center with over 20 years experience in the automotive industry.
In 2009, the organization added Evolve Technik, a division specializing in environmental and performance tuning, to the group.
One of the most recognized names in Porsche racing nationally, Fitzgerald Racing Services has had significant involvement in categories such as Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia, Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia, as well as production, program development and support packages to help pilots. at all levels.
The performance workshop currently supports a range of cars in motorsport, including a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 992) for David Russell in the Carrera Cup, while a Porsche 911 GT3 R which recently raced in the 2022 24 Hours of Spa also part of the fleet.
Fitzgerald Racing Services has big plans for the next 12 months, with the motorsport team expanding as the business is set to move to much larger and more modern premises.
Therefore, the operation is keen to find a specialized and fully qualified mechanic to join the team on a full-time basis, in order to meet the current and future increase in activity.
Candidates must have a positive attitude, be self-directed, have an energetic approach with a good experience in Euro service and maintenance, the ability to go after the answer if it is not in front of them, and be someone who is enthusiastic to grow with the company.
The successful candidate will also be required to do occasional track work on weekends, providing a rare insight into the motorsport arena.
The role offers a dream opportunity to work on premium vehicles such as Audi, BMW, Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes, Porsche and Volkswagen, with candidates ideally having experience working on these car models.
Christian Fitzgerald, co-owner of Fitzgerald Racing Services, said the role will provide plenty of opportunity.
“It’s quite a varied role, it’s not a locked service role as such, day-to-day general services would be one thing, but it will be a variety of twists and turns between doing services and adapting performance parts to preparing race cars to attend on-track events,” said Fitzgerald.
“The pedigree of the vehicles we work on is quite high, especially through our Evolve Technik business, we tend to work with a lot of high-end supercars.”
Fitzgerald said it was an exciting time to join the organization.
“We’re going through a huge period of growth right now, we’ve had a great year, there’s a lot of investment in the business, building it up and taking it to the next level,” he added.
“The roles are growing in terms of the opportunities available down the line.
“So rather than just joining a workshop and being a mechanic, there will be an opportunity in the near future to move up a pyramid of different roles.”
