Richard M. Dumbleton Sr.

PAVILION – Richard M. Dumbleton Sr., 77, of Silver Lake Road, died Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Wyoming County Community Hospital. Dick was born in Warsaw, September 9, 1944, the son of the late Chester A. and June B. Brueser-Dumbleton. A 1962 graduate of Letchworth Central School, Dick was born with mechanical abilities and he put them to work. Shortly after high school, he joined the United States Air Force, serving from 1962 to 1966, including in Vietnam as a mechanic. Back home he started working as a mechanic for Schwab Auto Sales in Warsaw, continuing for many years before starting his own business “Dumbleton’s Repair” which he ran from home. Dick loved bird watching and had a great dry sense of humor. He was slowly irritated and loved his family very much.

Dick was predeceased by his beloved wife of 51 wonderful years, Barbara Buchwald Dumbleton, whom he married on February 3, 1967, shortly after returning from the army. Other previous deaths include his brother, Charles Dumbleton and a nephew, David “Fudd” Dumbleton.

Survivors include his daughter, JoAnn M. Dumbleton de Le Roy; his son, Richard M. Jr. of Tennessee; two grandchildren, Kristen Schwab and Jaden Dumbleton, both of Le Roy; one sister, Laura (Ron) Eddy of Bliss; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Dumbleton of Pavilion; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, June 11, 2022, with an American Legion service and full military honors. Weeks Funeral Home, 123 N.
