Elks car show a great success

The Kelso Longview Elks #1482 Car Show Committee thanks everyone who attended, sponsored and/or donated to the August 6 car show.

From this year’s proceeds, the committee was able to donate to our local Veterans, Community

Home Health & Hospice, Lower Columbia College Automotive Scholarship Program, American Veterans with Disabilities and Veterans Motorcycle Outreach Organization. All profits remained local.

The success of our show was only possible thanks to the generosity of those who contributed to it.

Thank you for the support of the CRFC

The staff, students and families of the Longview School District Family Community Resource Center extend a heartfelt thank you to the following people for their support this summer and at the start of our school year.

We thank all the various members of the community who drop off food and snacks for the FCRC food pantry and for the EAT program. EAT provides weekend food bags for our students who have weekend food insecurities. Thanks to EAT and Altrusa for providing these weekend food bags to our students every Friday. We also thank Lower Columbia School Gardens and CAP for providing fruits, vegetables, and miscellaneous groceries to our families every Thursday.

We thank the Mint Valley Golf Course 9 Holers Club, Guild Mortgage Company and Island Pearls for all the boxes and backpacks filled with school supplies for our students. Families were able to come to the FCRC and get the supplies their students needed and were able to choose from some really nice supplies needed. The Ocean Beach Highway Walmart was amazing with the items we were given after back to school with boxes and boxes of school supplies, lunch boxes, water bottles and so much more. Thank you very much to all.

FISH has been very supportive in providing shoe vouchers to over 75 of our students who needed new shoes. Cutz4Kids provided us with several new pairs of shoes and socks for our liaisons to distribute to children who were unable to obtain shoe vouchers from FISH. It was an amazing project that was part of the Cutz4Kids haircut project which offered free haircuts to students before school started.

And, none of this could happen at CRFC without our volunteers in October, including Shelly, Jackie, Randy, Ron, Nancy, Duane, Cindy and Judy. Thank you all for your time and support.

We also thank our September Community Partners who help deliver programs and services in the CRFC for our students and their families. Thank you Core Health, Columbia Wellness and the EPIC Coalition.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the CRFC and the families who access its resources and services. We all appreciate you very much.

Fundraising for Link a success

Thank you to the volunteers at the Youth and Family Link thrift shop for hosting a successful Christmas fundraiser and vintage sale to benefit the Link programs.

Thrift store volunteers have collected and stored items for sale at this fundraiser for the past four years. Volunteers spent countless hours collecting, cleaning, refurbishing and selling items for the fundraiser held at the Youth and Family Link Gym on October 21-22. The total amount raised for Youth and Family Link was $17,489.

We also express our gratitude to Bob’s Sporting Goods for donating bags for the sale as well as Taco Time of Longview for donating food for guests and volunteers.

The Youth and Family Link Thrift Shop, located at 1212 Commerce Ave., Longview, has been a major resource for Youth and Family Link programs. Since its inception in 1963 by guild members with the generous support of the community at large, the Thrift Shop has provided funds to help realize the LINK vision. The success of Youth and Family Link is rooted in the support we receive from the community. Since 1960, we have been providing services to youth and families. Our commitment is to build a strong local community of support for families in need.
