Toyota sales in India increase by 17%; Reports wholesale sales of 14,959 units


Toyota Kirloskar Motor recorded wholesale volumes of 14,959 units in the month of August 2022, up 17% year-on-year. The company had reported sales of 12,772 units in the same month last year. The numbers, however, were down from July 2022, when the company posted its highest ever monthly sales of 19,693 units. The company also saw sales growth of 68% in the April-August 2022 period compared to 2021.

Commenting on the month’s performance, Atul Sood, Associate Vice President, Sales and Strategic Marketing, TKM said, “Last month, our segment-leading models, such as the Innova Crysta, Fortuner and Legender, recorded record customer orders, reiterating the strong appreciation that Toyota models enjoy in these segments.The new Glanza and Urban Cruiser continue to generate strong customer interest and orders.

Sood also said its premium range is also seeing good demand. The Vellfire MPV reported 120% sales growth in August 2022 although the company did not give a benchmark figure. The Camry also received its fair share of reservations during the month.

Toyota plans to launch a special edition of the Innova Crysta gasoline in the coming months.

Sood also added that the company has seen strong response for its upcoming Urban Cruiser Hyryder compact SUV. He also confirmed that the Innova Crysta essence will soon receive a new special-edition variant to commemorate the holiday season.

“In August, we also organized the first media campaign for Toyota’s newest vehicle, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The response to the first powerful self-charging hybrid electric model in the SUV B segment has been phenomenal, reinforcing customer faith and confidence in Toyota’s advanced technological prowess. Additionally, with the onset of the holiday season, we hope the Urban Cruiser Hyryder along with the upcoming limited edition Crysta petrol and all other vehicles in Toyota’s lineup will further assist us in meeting the myriad mobility needs. of our Indian consumers. ,” he said.

In recent weeks, Toyota has stopped accepting reservations for the Innova Crysta diesel, citing high demand for the vehicle and increased waiting times. The company said it will honor all existing reservations for the Crysta diesel, but it remains to be seen when reservations will reopen.
